Dear Friends,
In July, we invited 25 teachers to attend a Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) seminar in Lumino, Western Kenya, to introduce them to CEF and invite them to an 8-day training course in August. We are delighted that all 25 teachers accepted our invitation and attended the training this month. They will now join the over 70 teachers previously trained in hosting Good News Clubs (Bible Clubs) for children in Western Kenya. All 25 teachers who enrolled for the August Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Evangelizing Children 7-day training faithfully attended each day. They have joined the more than 70 teachers who have previously been trained to host Good News Clubs (Bible Clubs) for children in Western Kenya. We were greatly encouraged by the many testimonies we received from the teachers.
We continue to help schools avoid closure due to inadequate and/or unsafe latrines. Nangili Primary School, which has more than 1,000 students, was in serious danger of being closed by the government because of its inadequate latrine facilities. Recently, we completed a new latrine for them, allowing them to stay open.
In addition to project dedications, our goal this year was to visit 50 of the 80+ schools and orphanages in our network. As of August 31, we have completed 34 of those visits. The team sends us so many pictures of their ministry during these visits, it is difficult to select a few to share, especially when the children are so adorable.
We sent 1,000 Portuguese Scripture card packets to Porto Alegre, Brazil, with a Mount Vernon Baptist Church mission team. We have now sent cards to 10 different countries printed in three different languages.
