Residing in Richmond, VA, Kathy delights in being just a few miles from her two daughters, their husbands, and her five grandchildren, who range in age from 20 to 9. Her son and his wife live on Long Island, New York, which being farther away makes their visits a special treat.
Kathy started her career as a systems analyst over 30 years ago after graduating from Rutgers University with a BA in Computer Science. After earning her Masters in Health Care Adminstration, with her youngest daughter in college, she became an IT Consultant for a major healthcare software vendor.
In 2005, she took a position with a large academic health system where she continues to work as an IT project manager, and although most of her friends have retired, she thoroughly enjoys the creativity her job allows. She attends Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen and loves participating in Sunday morning services, Adult Bible Fellowship, Wednesday night Bible Study, and volunteering at special events. Serving with the young children at Awana on Sunday nights is a highlight of her week.
In addition to serving, Kathy has a passion for writing. Among her writings are hundreds of poems, a novel, and a 365-day devotional, Highway of Holiness©, which is available online through the Serving in Jesus’ Name ministry.
Coming to a relationship with Jesus Christ in her twenties, Kathy has spent the ensuing decades walking in His sanctifying grace. Most recently, He is giving her a more profound understanding of what is means to live a 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love. Since God is love, and Christ is God, Jesus is the incarnation of love, and her heart’s desire is for Him to give her this kind of love for Him and others.
“Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, and does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” I Corinthians 13:4-8
