Kenya is a beautiful African country with beautiful people. Yet, poverty is significant. Kenya’s population has tripled since 1980, rising from 16 million to over 46 million today. Children under 15 years of age make up 42% of Kenya’s population. On average 46% of Kenyans live below the poverty line making less than $1 per day. Education in Kenya is a privilege that most cannot afford, and girls get married as young as 12 or 13.

HAITI
Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti’s landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact. However, Haiti remains one of the poorest countries in the world, with a GDP per capita of $846. 59% of Haitians live under the poverty line of $2.41/day. Economic growth is low and political strife is constant.
