May 2025
Dear Friends,
We are well into our second batch of 2025 water and latrine projects. We had decided to limit these projects to the schools and orphanages within our current network, deepening our relationship and opening the door to establish Good News Clubs at these locations. Some of these 70 facilities have over 1,000 children, so the need for additional latrines and water tanks is always pressing. We decided, however, to complete projects at four “new” schools in answer to their plea for help. They received condemnation notices from the government informing them that they would be closed if they did not address their deplorable latrine conditions. We plan to recruit the majority of the 25 additional teachers we will send to Evangelizing Children training this fall from these large public schools since they offer an opportunity to reach large numbers of children for the Gospel
We built our first set of latrines at Nasianda Primary School (a large public school with 800 children) in 2021. This year, with our 4th and final latrine project there, we replaced the remaining dilapidated latrines. During the May dedication of our second rainwater catchment system there, Victor shared a message with the children from Deuteronomy 31:6-8: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Shooting Star is a charity school with 90 children, many as young as 3. Tony, Brian, and Kevin visited the school, bringing a “feast” for the little ones. Tony shared a message from Ephesians 6:1 before offering a blessing for the food. The children loved their lunch which included bread, a boiled egg, a biscuit, and 2 pieces of orange served with a glass of juice – an extraordinary treat these children will long remember.

Last November, we sponsored 25 teens to go to CEF Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) training in Nairobi. Twenty students were from Western Kenya, selected by our Kenyan team, and 5 were selected from other areas by Mary Kithuure, the CEF Kenyan National Ministry Director. Steward, shown below, was one of those students, and we rejoice in seeing the fruit from our investment in him. In his letter asking for our support, Steward, 12 at the time, he shared that when he was 5, his brother led him to Christ by sharing Bible verses with him, including John 1:12: “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God.” Steward wanted to go to CYIA training to deepen his knowledge of the Bible and be able to reach his friends for Christ.

Most Kenyans read and speak English well; however, some people living in remote regions struggle with English. At Victor’s request, we purchased a small number (100) Swahili Bibles for him to selectively hand out. Although these Bibles are more expensive than others we buy, we are glad we were able to honor Victor’s request when we hear how much they mean to those who receive them.

In June, we plan to pack a 40-foot container to send to Kenya. We are grateful for the nearly 20 people who have signed up so far to help. Please pray for a dry day.
As always, we extend our thanks to the many people who support us by donating articles, providing financial support, and helping with collecting and packing. We are grateful for each one of you. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you. (Number 6:24-25)
Blessings,
