March/April 2025
Dear Friends,
March was a month of preparation for the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) training. Mary Kithuure, CEF Kenyan Training Director, traveled to Western Kenya in April with 3 other instructors for 10 days of training. The 22 teachers who took the Evangelizing Children Course in November attended an 8-day Disciplining Children training. Following this, a one-day refresher course was given for the students we sent to Nairobi for 11-days of Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) training. The finale was a consolidated session for the 20 teachers trained in 2023-24, the 22 trained in 24-25, and the students. Between the trainers, attendees, and Serving in Jesus’ Name support team, the session included around 70 people.
The dedication of the teachers to use the CEF materials and training has been amazing. They have faithfully participated in monthly prayer meetings and regularly conduct Good News Club for thousands of children. Many children are being saved. Our investment in sending teens for CYIA training has been equally profitable for the Kingdom. These students, who were carefully vetted by Walter and Victor, held their first 5-Day Clubs after the April training. 228 children attended with 76 making decisions to follow Christ.

The linked videos below tell the story of the April training at Lumino with CEF and of the enormous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to host these training events.

Immaculate on preparing for CEF Training
In March, we put the finishing touches on 7 of the 30 building projects slated for 2025. At Mirembre Primary School, we completed our third latrine project at the site, giving them 15 safe stalls to serve 1,500 children. They had received a notice of condemnation for some of the older stalls, so our project was well-timed. Joseph, shown below on the left in the white shirt, shared at the project dedication, “The bible verses on the latrines have helped me get closer to God for the Scriptures remind me of God’s guidance, promises, and love daily.”

Our team made several visits and distributions in March and April. Victor visited Great Hope Academy, a charity school with 230 children. Fifty are particularly vulnerable since the school is near an army barracks and many of their mothers are sex workers. Great Hope continues to serve as a critical source of hope, stability, and education for these children, and they are always grateful for the gifts we bring to them from America. After sharing the Gospel, Victor handed out Children’s Bibles to the younger students.

On the home front, 31 volunteers worked on Serving in Jesus’ Name projects as part of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Missions Saturday event. The team put together 1,200 Scripture card packets and framed 125 Scriptures to be sent to Kenya. We also made 85 floral arrangements, which we will deliver locally with Scripture cards and an offer of prayer to those who are homebound or at senior living facilities. While this was a wonderful time of fellowship, it was, more importantly, Kingdom work. All three activities are ways we will share the Gospel. Our ministry verse is “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word God,” and we know the Lord will use His Word to bring abundant fruit.

As always, we extend our thanks to the many people who support us by donating articles, providing financial support, and helping with collecting and packing. We are grateful for each one of you. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you. (Number 6:24-25)
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Director, Serving in Jesus Name
