Dear Friends, In May, Serving in Jesus’ Name shared the Good News of the abundant life Jesus Christ offers to those who put their faith and trust in Him (John 10:10) as we continued our building projects and school visits. Our volunteers delivered the last of the over 2,300 sundresses donated by Dress a Girl Around the World along with other items to the Brigadier Musonye and Lumino Primary Schools. As always, we not only put smiles on the children’s faces, but we encouraged them to grow strong in faith in the Lord. The Brigadier Musonye School was completed last year almost 20 years after the land was donated for that purpose by a Major General in the Kenyan Defense Force. It took two decades for the Anglican Church of Kenya to raise the money for the school, which provides education for 260 children of less fortunate families in the Roberts area of Western Kenya. Elizabeth and Miriam (framed below), are one of three sets of identical twins at Brigadier. These sweet girls are orphans being raised by their grandmother. |
With the May projects of new latrines at the Lumino and Kongoni Secondary Schools and a
rainwater catchment system at the Soysambu Secondary School, we have completed 8 projects in 2022. This puts us in a good position to meet our goal of 20 water and latrine projects this year.
Over the years, our friends at the Greater Richmond Tegula Association have been faithful to
collect vanloads of items at their periodic cultural celebrations. The beautiful Indian dresses are a
special blessing to the women and children of Kenya, who love dressing up for church and for other
special occasions.
Other Activities in May – Sharing Scripture at Home
- 50,000 Scripture cards were delivered to Elena Calamaro, who is busy assembling the 5,000 packets which will go in our next shipment to Kenya.
- We have offered to provide packets of cards to three local churches for the children attending Vacation Bible School. We also sent packets to Al Manning, in fulltime ministry with Encouraging Encounters in Fort Wayne, IN, and ordered cards for Thrive, the Hope Church Thrive Women’s Fellowship, which has around 300 women in attendance.
We are grateful that our work goes on, and we send our thanks to each of you who prays for our
ministry, donates items, provides financial support, and gives time to help with our work. We are grateful for all those who enable us to continue sowing seeds of life in 2022 (1 Corinthians 3:6).
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Executive Director
