September 2024
Dear Friends,
In September, we finished our 2024 building projects, which included 13 five-stall latrines and 11 rainwater catchment systems. Our goal was 21 projects, but recently our dear friends at Lumino requested a much-needed water project. We also learned that Lusweti Primary School had received notice from the Kenyan Ministry of Health that they would be closed if they did not address their critical shortage of safe latrines. We were able, through the Lord’s provision, to complete these “emergency” projects.
We continue to distribute Bibles in churches, orphanages, schools, and other venues across Kenya. In September, an elder from Immaculate’s church requested Bibles to hand out at a leadership seminar on drug use and prevention in Saiya. Although the attendees were from different religions, the Bibles were joyfully received by all. We pray the Lord will use His living, active Word to bring many to a new or deepening faith in Jesus Christ.
Since 2019, we have been blessed by Dress A Girl with well over 10,000 handmade articles for girls. Their sundresses, panties, and dolls are always a source of joy to the Kenyan girls, as are their baby hats, receiving blankets, and menstrual kits to young mothers. This year, Dress A Girl Around the World Northern New England has donated nearly 3600 items to us. Under the leadership of Jane Nichols Bishop, this group has 400-500 dedicated sewers who “love to hear about helping God’s children in need. All of the items are made with love binding the stitches.”
At 5 years old, Kayden Kipchumba can draw anything. Using materials we provided to Great Hope Academy, he is blossoming as an artist. His work is so realistic, he creates all the charts for his classroom. This charity school not only provides Kayden with an education, but its teachers take turns caring for him while is father is away earning a living in construction work.
As always, we want to express our gratitude for all those who make our work possible by their prayers, donating items, helping pack and transport boxes, and providing financial support! We are incredibly blessed to be able to serve the Lord through this ministry. Many thanks to each of you.
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Director Serving in Jesus Name
