August 2024
Dear Friends,
In August, we sponsored our second one-day introductory seminar on Child Evangelism Fellowship’s training program to equip teachers to lead Bible clubs for children. Twenty-one people attended, and all of them enrolled for the 8-day Evangelizing Children training in November. They met in the library we built at Lumino Primary School. Mary Kithuure, CEF’s National Ministry Director in Kenya, led the training. The seminar included a life-changing evangelistic Bible lesson. After the teaching, one of the attendees, Ian Musina, asked to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He came to learn how to lead children to Christ, but after truly hearing the Gospel for the first time, he realized he had never dedicated his own life to Christ. Mary also had the opportunity to interact with some of the teachers who, having gone through CEF’s Evangelizing Children and Discipling Children training in earlier classes, are now leading Good News Clubs in the region.
Mary continually travels across Kenya sharing the Gospel with children. Last month, she and her team of CEF missionaries, went to Maasai Land. They reached over 300 children, with 150 of them receiving the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior. They handed out some of the Bibles we had given Mary.
Our Kenyan Project Team made some special requests for things that were pressing on their hearts. Victor Mulati requested Swahili Bibles for some people who could not read English. We were able to buy them in country, so he did not have to wait for our next shipment.
We were able to send 850 Spanish Scripture card packets to Central and South America. Caitlin Terry with Hydromissions took 600 packets to San Antonio, Guatemala where she dug her first well in 2009. She has since completed well over 1,000 water and latrine projects in 20 countries, often managing local workers remotely. She returns to Guatemala regularly, doing new projects, checking on former projects, and performing ministry with her friends at Operation Jabez. The cards were handed out at multiple ministry events in San Antonio and Guazacapan.
Cathy Walters and her son, John, traveled with a team from Mount Vernon Baptist Church to Ecuador. They ministered in various venues, sharing the Gospel by acting out parables from the Bible. Cathy helped put together the packets we sent to Guatemala, and she later came over with John to put together 250 packets for them to hand out in Ecuador.
Many thanks to each of you who make our work possible by your prayers, donating items, helping, and providing financial support! We are incredibly blessed to be able to serve the Lord through this ministry.
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Director Serving in Jesus Name
