Dear Friends,
“Nothing in all the world is so good as the knowledge and love of Christ, and no pleasure that can be enjoyed equal to the joy of serving Him with all one’s heart.” (Susan Warner) The exuberance of the 15 volunteers who gave their Saturday to pack the container bound for Kenya beautifully exemplifies Susan’s words. Our ever-faithful Lord gave us a lovely day, perfectly orchestrated all the logistics for the container delivery and shipping, and assembled an amazing crew. We are so thankful for this team who worked for 5 hours filling the container to the brim with treasures bound for the people of Kenya.
In Kenya, our building projects continued in October under the management of our faithful contractor, Victor Mulati. We were touched by Victor’s recent comments to Roselynn, our Western Kenya Project Coordinator.
“I’m very grateful working with you. This ministry is God sent and has really helped transform my team’s lives, as well as mine. The majority of my trainees are boys who never afforded schooling, and my dream is for them to have a better life, just as do those who can get an education.
“I’m a happy man today because this ministry gave me work at the time I started reaching out to help these young men. Now they are able to earn their daily bread through the skills they have acquired. In helping them, I’ve witnessed God’s blessings in my life. “I am praying that our Lord and God Jesus Christ may bless you and your descendants for the great work you are doing to uplift the lives of many, not forgetting us during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the situation, you made sure that we had work, which kept us alive. We really appreciated you. God bless you once again.” Victor
We completed several water catchment systems and a latrine project in October, and the work is underway on the remaining projects slated for 2022. The pictures below are from Shooting Star School in Kakamega County. This school, formed in 2021, serves 90 orphans and other children living in poverty. It incorporates Christian values and teachings about the Lord along with basic education. It faces many challenges, such as lack of classrooms, water, a safe kitchen, desks, textbooks, and toilets. We were delighted we were able to provide latrines for the younger children and a source of water. Perhaps next year, we will be able to do more for these sweet children.
Other Activities in October
- Hosted celebrations at the Lumino Special Unit and Kisigame Primary Schools. Immaculate showed a movie about the birth of Jesus in the Swahili language, served soda and cake, handed out a lollipop to each child, and gave some cash to the administrator.
- Provided Al Manning, serving with Encouraging Encounters out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a box of Scripture card packets to hand out as he extends compassion and support to people in need.
- Provided Zach Bolt with three cases of Bibles to hand out at the Jesus Clubs he leads in Virginia high schools.
- Ordered 16,000 Scripture cards to create 1,000 packets to go into Operation Christmas Child boxes destined for English-speaking countries.
As always, we are grateful that our work goes on, and we send our thanks to each of you who pray for our ministry, donate items, provide financial support, and give time to help with our work. We are grateful for all those who enable us to continue sowing seeds of life in 2022 (1 Corinthians 3:6).
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Executive Director
