Reflecting on all the Lord enabled us to do in 2020 for His glory brings us true joy in His love and provision (Psalm 84:11). As we were faithful to dedicate what we had for His use, He, who is ever faithful to His promises (Psalm 25:8-10), opened the floodgates of heaven and poured out a blessing on our ministry until it overflowed (Malachi 3:10). Therefore, we entered 2021 rejoicing in hope and enthusiasm at how He will work through and in us this year (Romans 12:11-12). The needs are great and our resources small, but we will continue to trust the Lord to take what we have and perform an eternal work, bringing many to a saving faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-10) and many others to deeper devotion to Him (Ephesians 4:15). We started the year by turning on the lights at the Magodo Orphanage. This facility, serving 60 children, has been without electricity since 2014, so the children were delighted to see the paraffin lamps with their nauseating fumes put away. Since our mission is to demonstrate the love of God and share the Good News of the Gospel, bringing light to replace the darkness at Magodo is a symbolically significant way to begin 2021. |
While our focus is on providing support to the 6,000 children and adults in the 20 orphanages, schools, women’s shelters, and senior men’s center in our network, our Kenyan team members do not neglect 1-on-1 ministry to selected villagers in especially dire circumstances. We were blessed to give four single women with handicapped children belated Christmas gifts including a supply of food, $50 in cash (a week’s wages for a skilled construction worker), a bag of treasures from our latest shipment, and most precious, a framed Scripture to adorn their bare walls. Vihenda mother’s words of gratitude touch our hearts, “Blessed are those who remember the widows and the poor. May they live long and enjoy the blessings of the Lord upon their lives.” |
Other Activities in January at Serving in Jesus’ Name
- Continued preparation of the library on the Lumino school grounds.
- Installed Scripture signs at the outdoor kitchens completed in December. The reports from Ivugui about the joy they are having in baking bread and cakes for the first time are rewarding.
- Set a goal of having 5,000 Bibles ready for shipping with our next container.
We are grateful for each of you who continue to support Serving in Jesus’ Name with your prayers, contributions, donated articles, and help sorting, packing and transporting. Thank you for all you have done and are doing to enable us to carry out this work of love. We pray the Lord blesses you, keeps you, and causes His face to shine upon you. May He be gracious to you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26),
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Executive Director
