Dear Friends,
In June, we had our first ZOOM meeting with our newly-formed Kenyan Project Team. Roselyne, Sheila, Walter, and Victor have been serving alongside Immaculate in the ministry for years, so were excited to make their roles more official and to have an opportunity to share our joint vision and plans for the ministry “face-to-face.” The love of the Lord and children is evident in each of these amazing people, and we are so blessed to be serving with them.
Bibles in Kenya are a luxury many people cannot afford. Bible study teachers often share a Bible while the attendees rarely have one. The Kenyan Project Team is prayerfully considering where to distribute the Bibles included in our last shipment. They will go to the orphanages and schools in our network, local churches, and the Good News Clubs. The members of the End Time Message Church, where Victor teaches Sunday School, were overwhelmingly grateful to receive their own copy of the Bible. Members of the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa also received the Bibles with great joy. They prayed for blessings on all who made it possible, since to them Bibles are great treasures that will nourish their souls and build their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Kenyan orphanages and schools are poorly funded, so most children never have the opportunity to do a craft, play with an actual game, or put together a puzzle. Immaculate had the joy of delivering many of these items to the children at Patty’s Children’s Heart Orphanage in May, along with boxes full of clothes, shoes, and other items.
Other activities in May and June
- Completed four water projects and our 5th and 6th latrine projects, so we are on target to reach our goal of ten latrine and ten water projects in 2023.
- Finalized plans for the Child Evangelism Fellowship Seminar on July 15 in Western Kenya. We expect 15-18 attendees who have expressed interest in being trained to teach CEF Good News Clubs.
- Visited several of the home-bound children in Lumino whom we help support, taking food, housewares, clothes, linens, and even a little cash. Medical supplies donated by a Richmond ministry were a special blessing to the caretakers of Henry, a young adult bedridden with Barre syndrome.
- Provided Scripture Card packets in Spanish to teams going to Equator from Mount Vernon Baptist Church and Bolivia from Kingsway Community Church.
We send our sincere thanks to each of you who make it possible for us to continue the ministry of Serving in Jesus’ Name by your prayers, financial support, donated items, and help with sorting and packing. We are grateful for the privilege of sharing the love and Word of God with people locally and in various parts of the world. May the Lord richly bless you for your generosity and kindness.
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Executive Director
