Isaiah tells us that the Word of God is like the rain and snow that come down from heaven and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish (Isaiah 55:9-10). How it encourages us to know that as we faithfully send out God’s Word, it will not return to Him void, for He will surely use it to accomplish the Kingdom work He desires (Isaiah 55:11). Though we are like farmers who sow seeds not knowing how they sprout and grow (Mark 4:26-29), we marvel at the miracles occurring in lives changed by God’s love sowed with the Good News of salvation and abundant life through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-10; John 10:10). Knowing that God’s desire is for all women to be clothed in strength and dignity (Proverbs 31:25), we praise the Lord for the privilege of distributing Days for Girls hygiene kits to girls and women at the facilities we support. Through the amazing ministry of Days for Girls International and the dedication of sewers in their Virginia Beach and Northern Virginia Chapters, we were able to send 390 kits in December. These kits literally change lives by enabling girls to manage their monthly cycle without being humiliated, ostracized, and forced to miss school one week each month. |
The true desire of our hearts is always to draw the children and their caretakers closer to the Lord through our ministry. We continually seek for fresh ways to share the Word of God while providing material support. A donated portable movie screen inspired us to purchase equipment for the orphanages and schools to show The Jesus Film and other movies developed by CRU Press. Immaculate is currently researching the portable equipment needed for these showings, which we hope to sponsor once gatherings are again permitted in Kenya. If we could figure out a way to make popcorn for the children, that would be awesome! Below is a picture of the villagers I mentioned in last month’s newsletter. We were able to bless these handicapped children and their families, who live in especially dire circumstances, with gifts of food and cash, along with other “treasures” from the shipment. |
Other Activities in February at Serving in Jesus’ Name
- Our Kenyan team continued to distribute items from the 2020 shipment.
- Work progressed on furnishing and stocking the library at Lumino, as well as putting the finishing touches on the latrine and water projects at the Nangili primary and secondary schools.
- We continued to seek partnerships with local pastors in the Western Region to provide equipment and materials for learning centers. Progress on these programs is slow, however, due to continued COVID shutdowns.
Our sincerest thanks go out to each of you for your continued support of Serving in Jesus’ Name with your prayers, contributions, donated articles, and help sorting, packing and transporting. We are grateful for all you have done and are doing to enable us to carry out this work of love. We pray the Lord blesses you, keeps you, and causes His face to shine upon you. May He be gracious to you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26),
Blessings,
Kathy Carlin, Executive Director
